The Old Friend by Dr. Tosaddak Ahmed

Created by Shaira 2 years ago

We first met in 1956 at Baker Hostel, Kolkata, while studying Intermediate Science. He was one year ahead of me. We then entered Calcutta Medical College, staying in the same hostel.

I arrived in London in October 1965. Dr. Kadir came by sea a year later and I received him at Victoria Station. I was then working at Sutton General Hospital, Surrey, and he stayed with me in the hospital residence until he got his first job at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, Aylesbury.

We then worked at different hospitals under the National Health Service, making our careers and trying to complete the MRCP; always rendering moral support and inspiration to each other. We somewhat achieved our goals and all the praises be unto the Almighty Allah Subhana Taala.

May He now take him back to Him in His Mercy and Paradise. Ameen.
